The Contents of a Silver Bag

Since silver bags are such a good investment, many people are curious to know what exactly is inside them. As a starter, every silver coin made before 1964 was made of 90% silver. Silver bags usually contain either all dimes, quarters, or half dollars. Generally there are no mixed bags, that is to say they will not contain dollar coins. If you want dollar coins they are sold as dollar bags and due to the weight may be shipped as two separate bags. You get the picture, and this is what will come inside your silver bag.

A stated before, this is why silver bags are so valuable. Each bag contains $1,000 worth of coins, so even if silver dips, you still have the face value of the coin. These coins are not proof no or they mint, so don’t expect a bag full of shiny new coins. Most of the coins will have been used and are probably in okay to poor condition. However this doesn’t matter, as you are simply buying for silver content, not for coin proof.

The average amount of silver per silver bag is around 710 ounces.

What are Silver Bags

Next to silver rounds, silver bags are the best way to invest in silver. So what exactly are silver bags? Silver bags are a collection of U.S. 90% silver coins that were all minted prior to 1965.

What are the Benefits of Silver Bag Investment?

The main benefit with the silver coin bag investment is that it comes with what you might call a guarantee. It doesn’t matter what happens to the price of silver, the value of your 90% silver bag will never be worth less than its $1,000 face value since that is the face value of the coins contained inside the bag. In other words, the coins inside the bag will always be worth $1,000, because that is the amount that the coins are worth. However if the price of silver continues to climb, then you reap the rewards, as the amount of silver in each coin starts to grow.

Another interesting tidbit worth noting is that  when the premium on a 90% silver bag moves up, this is a good indicator of the future price of silver. At the same time, if the premium drops, then the price of silver is likely to drop. Either way though you still have the face value of the coins!
